The Town of Remington, IN, began updating its Comprehensive Plan in early 2026. Having witnessed the benefits of proactively deciding and shaping its future during previous planning efforts, the town is ready for a refreshed vision, with strategies that will help make it a reality.
This website gathers information about the creation of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan, provides updates and reports, and offers a way for Remington community members to engage in the process.
About the Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan records what the community hopes to achieve, why it matters, and how it might get there. During the process, many facets of what makes a community are studied in this process - its history, residents, culture, natural resources, economic livelihood, infrastructure, built environment, and connection to the rest of the world. To ensure that the future vision of Remington reflects the needs and desires of the community, this process includes multiple ways to engage with Remington’s leadership and residents.
Research and engagement results are woven into a unified, cohesive vision that inspires Remington residents and leaders to work together to achieve it. The plan will guide Remington by providing concrete goals and action steps in different spheres of the community’s life.
Comprehensive plans also have a legal role. While the plan itself is a guide, some of the town’s laws, infrastructure improvements, project choices, grants, and financing must be consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. As such, the plan is an important tool used by elected and appointed leaders, town staff, community organizations, and property owners when making decisions about land use, transportation, utilities, and more.
